Our Oyster pickups give your instrument a natural, warm and full sound instantly, without active electronics or a preamp:
The exceptional sound comes from the perfect interaction of three elements: the membrane, the piezo and a special, high-quality plastic contact gel.
All Oyster models are attached to the instrument with either double-sided adhesive tape or removable adhesive pads that do not damage the surface of the instrument.
A thin adhesive tape is recommended for guitars that are quite resonant. If, however, very high signal strength is required, a silicone rubber adhesive pad is preferable. Instructions: cut a 2 cm piece of double-sided adhesive silicone rubber or adhesive tape, peel off the protective film and stick it under the pickup, then stick the pickup onto the guitar. Done!
Fitted with a high-quality 6.35 mm jack plug, a cable clamp, a threaded end piece and a strap button. Professional quality, secure fixing and perfect shielding make the Oyster pickup even more valuable!
In principle, you can use our Oyster with all types of instruments. The sound depends on the position on your instrument, so don't hesitate to experiment!
Recommended installation:
As the resonance and construction of guitars and other instruments vary, it is important to find the ideal position for the pickup on your instrument. In practice, the following three positions are the most common:
– Under the strings, in front of the bridge, between the 2nd and 3rd treble strings (B and G)
– Directly on the treble side of the bridge
– Behind the bridge, treble side.
Removing the pickup:
Remove it gently, without pulling on the cable. You can loosen it more easily by turning the capsule in both directions (clockwise and anticlockwise). Once the capsule is removed, you can clean off any adhesive residue with a little guitar polish.
Oyster position, loud playing:
For powerful playing including percussive hits on the soundboard, fix the Oyster piezo elements under the soundboard, in line with the bridge and close to the sides.
Oyster position for normal playing:
for normal or lighter playing, fix the Oyster piezo elements to the left and right, directly under the bridge.
